Braces have been the quintessential solution for straightening teeth and achieving that perfect smile. However, at Ricci Orthodontic Studio, we’ve taken this traditional concept and infused it with the latest advancements in dental technology and orthodontic practices. Our commitment is to provide you with not just any braces, but a sophisticated solution tailored to your unique dental needs. Braces are ultimately a tool that an orthodontist uses to move your teeth into the right position, but the expertise of the orthodontist is still the main variable in determining the outcome of treatment.

The Evolution of Braces

Gone are the days when braces were just metallic, cumbersome structures on teeth. Today, they are marvels of orthodontic engineering. At our practice, we understand that orthodontic treatment with braces is still the desired route for some patients for achieving their dream smile. Therefore, we use self-ligating braces, which are a significant upgrade from traditional braces.

Traditional braces consist of two primary components: brackets and archwires. The bracket is the part that sticks to each tooth like a sticker, and the archwires are what connects all of the brackets together. The brackets we use at Ricci Orthodontic Studio are called self-ligating. There is a “door” that the wire goes into and once the door is shut the wire stays in. If you still want to add colors to your braces, you can, but our braces don’t require colors to be added in order to work.

There are many different bracket systems with different prescriptions and methodologies. At our practice, we use the latest and greatest technology in the hands of our expert orthodontist to help you achieve the studio-worthy smile you deserve!

Advanced Features of Our Braces

Our braces are designed to offer you the most comfortable and efficient treatment possible. The progressive slot in our braces provides an intelligent balance of control and freedom of movement, which is essential for effective treatment and outstanding finishing. This technology allows for predictable finishes, often in as few as four wires, making the entire process smoother and more efficient.

The duration of the treatment varies depending on the individual case. However, thanks to our advanced technology, treatment times are generally shorter compared to traditional braces. The average case takes about 18 months to finish.

Our braces are designed for comfort. While some discomfort is normal during orthodontic treatment, our advanced bracket systems and lighter force wires minimize this discomfort significantly.

Yes, while our self-ligating braces don't require colors for functionality, you can still choose to add colored bands for a personalized touch.

Braces are suitable for patients of almost all ages. Our orthodontist will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine the best course of treatment. The American Association of Orthodontics recommends all children be seen by the age of 7 for an initial consultation to determine if early intervention is needed.

The frequency of visits can vary, but typically, patients are seen every 6-8 weeks for adjustments and monitoring.

Aftercare generally involves wearing a retainer to ensure that your teeth stay in their new position. Dr. Ricci will provide detailed instructions tailored to your specific needs.

Maintaining good oral hygiene is crucial during braces treatment. We recommend regular brushing and flossing, using specialized interproximal brushes and flossers designed for braces. Our team will guide you on the best practices and tools to use to keep your braces and teeth clean, which is essential for effective treatment and overall dental health.

Braces may require a short adjustment period, but they generally won't significantly impact your daily activities, including sports and playing musical instruments. For sports, we advise wearing a mouthguard to protect your braces and teeth. If you play wind instruments, it might take a bit of time to adjust, but most individuals adapt quickly. If you are very concerned about this, you may want to ask Dr. Ricci if Invisalign is a better option for your specific case/lifestyle.

Braces are highly effective for correcting a wide range of dental alignment issues, including crowding, gaps, overbites, underbites, and crossbites. During your initial consultation, Dr. Ricci will assess your specific condition and discuss whether braces are the best option for your needs.
